betPawa has injected KSh 6.7 million into grassroots football development in Kenya through a sports support initiative targeting 25 football teams across the country.
The initiative is expected to benefit at least 575 players from both men’s and women’s teams through the distribution of full playing kits and essential training equipment aimed at improving football development at the community level.
Teams Receive Kits and Training Equipment
Under the programme, each player will receive a complete playing kit comprising jerseys, shorts, and socks. The company has also distributed four match balls to every team, bringing the total number of balls donated to 100.
In addition, the initiative includes the provision of 575 training bibs and 75 pairs of goalkeeper gloves to support training and match preparedness.
The support is expected to ease the financial burden faced by many local clubs, which often struggle to access quality sports equipment due to limited funding.
Beneficiary Teams Drawn From Across Kenya
The beneficiary teams include Maungu All Stars FC, Majengo FC, Mwendo FC, Kisii Wazee FC, Kapkorech Starlet, St Josephus Nakuru, Maringo United, Masimba Queens, Lugusi FC, Youngboys FC, Livewire FC, Panga FC, Black Stallion FC, UNESCO FC, Kangeta Youth FC, Kangami FC, Gategi Ladies, HCE FC, Falcon Queens, Arrows of Kajembe Starlets, Atletico Kangemi SC, Kibagare Girls FC, Kick It Kenya FC, Shimanzi FC, and Nyanturago Town Boys FC.
Many of the teams operate within community leagues and rely heavily on local support and fundraising to sustain operations and purchase training materials.
Company Says Talent Exists Across Communities
Speaking on the initiative, Borah Ndanyungu said the programme is designed to support talented players at the grassroots level who often lack access to proper equipment.
“Because talent is everywhere in Kenya. You see it in community fields, in local leagues, in the quiet determination of players who show up every week, often with very little, but with everything to give,” said Ndanyungu.
She noted that providing standardised kits and training gear will help create a more professional environment for teams while improving organisation and player confidence.
Focus on Inclusivity in Sports
Women’s football teams form a significant portion of the beneficiaries, reflecting the company’s growing focus on inclusivity and equal opportunities in sport.
The initiative aligns with betPawa’s broader sports development agenda across Africa, including its Locker Room Bonus (LRB) programme, which offers equal bonus payments to both men’s and women’s teams following victories.
The latest investment adds to a growing trend of private sector involvement in supporting grassroots sports and nurturing talent beyond elite competitions.
