Binance Launches Safety Campaign in Kenya to Promote Crypto Security

Binance has launched the Safety Campaign in Kenya, a community-focused initiative aimed at promoting safety awareness while reinforcing the company’s commitment to protecting cryptocurrency users.

According to Binance, the initiative uses familiar Kenyan daily experiences to simplify conversations around crypto security, drawing parallels between physical safety practices and responsible participation in the digital financial economy.

Community-Centred Launch in Nairobi

The launch event brought together boda boda riders, safety partners, local officials, members of the crypto community, and the media. A key highlight of the activation was the distribution of safety helmets and reflective gear to boda boda riders, alongside practical education on road safety and proper helmet use.

Binance said the gesture symbolised the role of protective gear on Kenya’s roads, mirroring the safeguards the company applies to protect users’ funds and personal data online.

Linking Physical Safety to Digital Protection

Speaking during the event, Saruni Maina, Regional Operations Lead at Binance Africa, said safety is the foundation of opportunity both offline and online.

“Wearing a helmet is a simple yet powerful way to protect yourself on the road. In the same way, Binance’s secure platform empowers individuals to take control of their financial future with confidence and freedom,” Maina said.

He added that the company wants Kenyans to feel safe whether navigating busy streets or exploring the digital financial world, noting that security is not optional.

Advanced Security Measures for Users

Binance highlighted that, just as boda boda riders rely on protective gear to reduce risk, the platform applies advanced security measures to safeguard users’ digital assets. These include encryption, multi-factor authentication, withdrawal controls, and continuous system monitoring to protect funds and personal information.

The campaign reinforced its message through everyday safety habits such as fully charging a phone before leaving home, double-checking matatu fares, and confirming alarms—simple actions that reduce risk through preparedness.

Riders Welcome the Initiative

Boda boda riders welcomed the campaign, saying it addressed both practical and symbolic safety concerns. Calvince Okumu, President of the Digital Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya, said the helmet distribution met a real need within the sector.

“A helmet can save your life, but many riders cannot afford proper gear. Today’s event shows that our safety matters and reminds us that protecting ourselves online is just as important,” Okumu said.

He added that the campaign introduced riders to the importance of safeguarding digital income and assets in an increasingly online economy.

Building Trust in Crypto Adoption

Binance said trust remains central to crypto adoption in Africa. Maina noted that beyond providing technology, the company is focused on education and community engagement to help users confidently navigate the digital economy.

“Our goal is to ensure that whether you are a first-time crypto user or an experienced trader, you have the knowledge and tools to keep your assets safe,” he said.

The Safety Campaign will continue across digital platforms through educational videos, localised social media content, influencer partnerships, and community engagement. Binance said post-event highlights, including videos and photo galleries, will be shared as part of its broader effort to build a safer and more inclusive crypto ecosystem in Africa.

By connecting everyday safety habits with digital financial protection, Binance says the campaign delivers a clear message: being prepared, informed, and protected makes all the difference, both on the road and online.
