Equity Bank & Quickmart Launch ‘Lipa Bila Pressure’ Festive Campaign

Equity Bank has partnered with Quickmart Supermarkets to reward shoppers with early Christmas gifts through a festive campaign dubbed “Lipa Bila Pressure,” aimed at promoting fast, secure, and cashless payments during the busy holiday season.

The partnership was unveiled at Quickmart’s Eastern Bypass branch in Kamakis, where customers who spend Ksh3,000 or more between 2pm and 3pm daily and pay using Equity debit or credit cards will receive a Ksh500 shopping voucher redeemable on their next visit.

Speaking during the launch, Equity Bank Managing Director Moses Nyabanda said the campaign is designed to ease congestion at checkout points and enhance customer convenience during Christmas shopping.

“Queues will be long, but if you use any of our Equity channels, your life will be very simple. Our payment channels are fast, secure, and reliable,” Nyabanda said.

The initiative targets Kenya’s growing middle-class and urban consumers who are increasingly embracing digital payments. With over 65 Quickmart branches spread across urban and peri-urban areas, the retailer offers Equity an ideal platform to deepen adoption of its digital payment solutions.

Through the campaign, Equity is encouraging customers to use its wide range of cashless channels, including debit and credit cards, QR payments, Equitel lines, Equity Till, the Equity Mobile App, Equity Online, and USSD code *247#, reinforcing the bank’s strategy to expand its footprint in Kenya’s cashless economy.
“We continue to ensure that Equity is available to all our customers everywhere,” Nyabanda added, noting that the partnership strengthens the bank’s presence in the retail sector during the festive period.

For Quickmart, the collaboration is expected to boost foot traffic and customer loyalty amid stiff competition in the retail market. Quickmart Chief Commercial Officer Joseph Thuku said the supermarket is fully prepared to deliver value and convenience to shoppers this Christmas.

“We have the best deals, great locations, and plenty of free parking. This partnership with Equity Bank will make this Christmas a memorable one for our customers,” Thuku said, while thanking shoppers for their continued loyalty.

The launch event featured lively activities, including a 60-second shopping challenge, where selected customers raced against time to pick items from the shelves. Winners walked away with shopping vouchers, adding to the festive excitement.

One of the winners, Nancy Koki, received a Ksh5,000 voucher and praised Equity for rewarding its customers. “Equity is the best, and we shall continue being customers. Thanks for the Christmas gifts,” she said.

Another shopper, Faith Kamoshe, won a Ksh6,000 voucher after shopping items worth Ksh10,000, encouraging fellow customers to use Equity cards while shopping at Quickmart.
Other shoppers also won branded merchandise, including t-shirts, caps, and bags, after spinning a prize wheel.

The “Lipa Bila Pressure” campaign will run throughout the holiday season, offering shoppers a seamless, rewarding, and festive shopping experience across Quickmart branches nationwide.
