Relief for Motorists as Kamandura Underpass Partially Opens
Drivers plying the busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway have been heaving a sigh of relief following the partial opening of the Kamandura underpass, which has, in turn, improved traffic flow on the major road during the festive season.
The development has resulted in decreased congestion along the road and also improved travel time, especially during peak hours when the volume of passengers increases as people travel upcountry or go back to Nairobi.
Kiambu Traffic Police Commander Martha Gitau has commended the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) for the prompt intervention, stating that the partial opening of the highway has increased traffic flow and secured the safety of commuters during this festive season.
“The impact has been quite beneficial as far as managing traffic is concerned, as it is important during this time of the year,” Gitau stated.
The Nairobi-Nakuru Highway is among the busiest roads in the country, though investment is also anticipated to improve this road, with the objective of opening an underpass on the road once the constructions are complete.
