Mseto FC from Dagoretti and Achievers FC from Ongata Rongai emerged as champions of the second edition of the Nairobi SportPesa Cheza Dimba tournament, held on Saturday, October 4, at the Dandora Stadium.

In the men’s final, Mseto FC clinched the regional crown with a narrow 1-0 victory over Victors Faith Church of Kasarani. The winning goal came early in the 16th minute when Charles Baraza struck decisively, securing the title in a thrilling encounter.

Meanwhile, the women’s final saw Achievers FC edge out hosts UEFA Despanol Queens in a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regular time.

Elated by the victory, Mseto FC Head Coach Michael Branabe praised his squad’s resilience. “Last year, we were knocked out in the first round, but this time we came prepared with new attacking tactics. We plan to use the prize money to support our team. I thank SportPesa and the Tujiamini initiative for helping grassroots players realize their dreams,” he said.

Mseto FC took home KES 250,000 annually plus kits for three years, while Achievers FC received a one-off KES 50,000 prize. Both teams will also benefit from mentorship under the Tujiamini initiative, which focuses on nurturing grassroots talent.

The Nairobi edition attracted teams from across the county, showcasing youth talent and community spirit. The event also featured the “Bronze Kwa Ground” giveaways, recognizing changemakers in sports, arts, media, and enterprise.

Deborah Maina, Public Relations and Advertising Executive at SportPesa, said: “Cheza Dimba is more than just football. It’s about supporting talent, inspiring hope, and uplifting communities. Today, we witnessed passion and skill that represent the true spirit of community football.”

With the Nairobi leg concluded, the Cheza Dimba tournament now shifts to the Nyanza region, with Kisii set to host the next edition.
