NCBA Bank marked the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2025, with a community outreach event in Dagoretti South, in partnership with Ahadi Kenya Trust, Ushiriki Wema, Vinearc Village, and the Nairobi County Government.

This day was about keeping over 300 senior citizens together and acknowledging the great things that the theme of the year accomplished, “Older persons driving local and global action; our aspirations, our well-being and our rights.”

On the day, in line with the NCBA staff and volunteers were active in the distribution of foodstuffs, blankets, mattresses, diapers, and other necessities for the aged to the elderly, a gesture that reaffirms the bank’s commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility through its #NCBAChangeTheStory pledge.

NCBA said that the project communicates the bank’s belief that it is a moral obligation and a privilege to take care of those who took care of society. “At NCBA, we believe empowering every generation is key to creating resilient and equitable societies. Supporting older persons is part of our journey to build a more inclusive future,” the bank said in a statement.

The International Day of Older Persons is a worldwide celebration held every year on October 1 to point out the hardships faced by the elderly and to celebrate their role in developing societies. This year’s theme highlights the importance of older persons not only as beneficiaries of care but also as active contributors to sustainable development.

NCBA demonstrated its ongoing dedication to sustainable community development by reaching out to the elderly in Dagoretti South. The bank has been able to embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles deeply in its operations, making its financial success have a social impact as well.

The Dagoretti celebration was a wake-up call that senior citizens should be honored and empowered as a step towards building communities that are cohesive, compassionate and future-ready.
