Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has been found alive a day after reportedly being abducted by unknown assailants outside a church in Kiambu County.
Koimburi was discovered on Monday morning, May 26, at the Jacaranda coffee plantation in the Kibichoi area, appearing to be in pain and with his clothes torn. Video footage circulating online shows the lawmaker lying on the ground within the plantation, visibly distressed and writhing in pain.
According to eyewitnesses, Koimburi was abducted on Sunday, May 25, outside a church in Kiambu under unclear circumstances. His sudden disappearance sparked concern among residents and leaders, especially given his close political ties to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The MP has since been rushed to Karen Hospital in Nairobi, where he is receiving urgent medical attention. The extent of his injuries remains unclear, and no official statement has yet been issued by the police or his family.
Authorities are yet to comment on the incident or confirm if investigations into the abduction have commenced.
Koimburi’s abduction and dramatic reappearance have raised fresh concerns over the safety of public officials and the growing trend of political violence and intimidation in the country.
