Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Zanaco Partner to expand mobile banking access across Zambia
Intelligent Technologies (Liquid), a business of Cassava Technologies, has announced a new partnership with Zambia National Commercial Bank (Zanaco) aimed at improving access to mobile banking and digital services across the country.
The strategic alliance will see Zanaco agents stationed inside Liquid Home stores nationwide, offering customers convenient access to both financial and connectivity services under one roof. This includes services such as mobile banking, cash deposits and withdrawals, as well as internet top-ups for Liquid’s LTE services.
Mark Townsend, Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, underscored the importance of the partnership in promoting digital and financial inclusion. “Financial and digital inclusion are key drivers of economic growth and digital transformation.
By integrating Zanaco’s mobile banking into our Liquid Home stores, we’re making it easier for individuals and families to manage their finances, stay connected, and actively participate in the digital economy,” he said.
The partnership launch was held at Zanaco’s headquarters, where the bank’s Chairman, Prof. Oliver Saasa, emphasized customer-centric innovation. “Recently, we launched the You First campaign—an initiative that underscores our promise to prioritize our customers, employees, and communities.
Today’s event is a concrete step towards ensuring our customers have access to vital financial services through multiple touchpoints,” Saasa said.
Zanaco agents will initially be present in Liquid Home stores located in Cairo, East Park, Cosmopolitan, and Lewanika Malls in Lusaka, as well as Zemart Mall in Ndola and Mukuba Mall in Kitwe. Additional locations are planned as part of a nationwide rollout.
The initiative is part of Liquid’s broader commitment to Zambia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy. Recent efforts by the company include the deployment of public Wi-Fi in Livingstone, expansion of its GPON fibre network, the launch of Azure Stack for affordable cloud services, and the establishment of a Cyber Security Fusion Centre in 2023.
Through this partnership, both Liquid and Zanaco aim to provide Zambians with enhanced access to essential digital and financial tools—fostering inclusive growth and digital empowerment in the country.
