Dr. Augustus Muli accuses opposition of boardroom politics

1 Mins read

National Liberal Party leader Dr. Augustus Muli has launched a scathing attack on opposition figures, accusing them of making unilateral political decisions on behalf of communities without proper grassroots consultation.

Speaking during a public engagement forum in Kitui South, Dr. Muli criticized what he termed as the persistent tendency to drag the Akamba community into opposition politics. According to him, such moves do not reflect the will of the majority, who he said are increasingly inclined toward collaborating with the national government for development.

“It is unfortunate that some leaders continue to make decisions in boardrooms without engaging the people they claim to represent. The Akamba community deserves to chart its political path through inclusive dialogue, not through political imposition,” said Dr. Muli.

He urged leaders from the Ukambani region to prioritize the aspirations and needs of their constituents over personal or party interests. Dr. Muli emphasized that strategic engagement with the current administration is the surest way for the region to claim its rightful share of national resources and development opportunities.

As the 2027 succession race gains momentum, Dr. Muli’s remarks are seen as a call for a political realignment in Ukambani, one that embraces constructive engagement with the government of the day rather than continued opposition for its own sake.

“We must not allow our region to be left behind due to outdated political alignments. It’s time we rethink our strategy and focus on what benefits our people,” he added.

Dr. Muli’s comments come amid growing debates on the political direction of the Ukambani region, with various factions pushing divergent agendas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
