Jubilee Life Insurance has awarded full secondary school scholarships worth KES 3 million to ten outstanding young artists who emerged top in the insurer’s 2024 Art Competition.
The competition, now in its fifth year, attracted a record-breaking 13,000 submissions from pupils across 26 counties, including 90 entries from a special category. The top ten winners were recognized for their creativity and innovation, earning life-changing scholarships that will cover their entire secondary school education.
While unveiling the winners and launching the 2025 edition of the Art Competition, Jubilee Life Insurance CEO Asman Mugambi emphasized the initiative’s role in not only celebrating creativity but also building essential life skills among the youth.
“Financial literacy is a foundational life skill, and the earlier it is nurtured, the greater its impact,” said Mr. Mugambi. “Our company believes that improving financial literacy in society begins with recognizing children as key stakeholders.”
The competition, themed ‘Art of Saving’ for 2025, aims to instill a savings culture in children by encouraging them to explore the value of saving and how small, consistent habits can shape a secure future. Mr. Mugambi highlighted how the initiative aligns with Jubilee’s commitment to empowering the next generation with critical financial knowledge through creative expression.
“Through the Art Competition, we are equipping the next generation to make informed choices. This investment is paving the way for stronger families, empowered communities and a more financially resilient nation,” he added.
Jubilee Holdings Chairman Zul Abdul lauded the competition as more than just an art showcase, describing it as a strategic investment in the mindset and future of Kenyan youth.
“We are excited to leverage our expertise to empower young learners, recognizing their crucial role in securing our country’s future. This initiative nurtures talent and drives national progress,” he said.
Dr. Julius Kipng’etich, Group CEO of Jubilee Holdings, commended the Ministry of Education for its support, underscoring the importance of public-private partnerships in unlocking the creative potential of children.
“Meaningful change requires collaboration, and it’s inspiring to see how these partnerships are making a real impact,” Dr. Kipng’etich noted. “With the Ministry’s support, we can continue empowering children to explore their talents, especially through the Competency-Based Curriculum that integrates creative arts.”
The 2025 edition of the competition is open to pupils from Grade One to Grade Four. Participants will submit original artworks in various formats—including painting, drawing, collage, and mixed media—using locally available materials such as watercolours, crayons, ink, and charcoal. Submissions must be hand-delivered or couriered to Jubilee Insurance’s head office by July 20, 2025. The awards ceremony date will be announced in due course.
By fusing art with financial education, Jubilee Life Insurance continues to foster a culture of creativity, responsible money management, and holistic child development—paving the way for a brighter, more financially aware generation.
