Global sportswear and lifestyle giant adidas Originals has officially launched its first standalone store in Kenya, marking a significant expansion of the brand in East Africa. The new retail outlet, located on the first floor of Westgate Mall in Westlands, Nairobi, opened its doors to the public on April 4, 2025.
The entry of adidas Originals into the Kenyan market is spearheaded by WAMA International Group, a retail powerhouse that operates over 30 stores across various regions and has set its sights on further growth across East Africa.
The Nairobi store aims to elevate the shopping experience for local consumers, offering a wide range of adidas Originals products including lifestyle footwear, apparel, and accessories for both men and women. Known for its strong ties to streetwear, culture, and creativity, the brand brings a refreshing blend of global style and local flavor.
To celebrate the launch, adidas hosted a vibrant opening party that featured live DJs, sneaker customization experiences, and cultural showcases—highlighting the brand’s commitment to creativity, inclusion, sustainability, and innovation.
“It has been a great experience to partner up with the WAMA group and bring the first Originals standalone store to Nairobi,” said Brett Burgess, Senior Director Africa Export, EM South. “As a brand we are committed to growing our presence in Africa and positively contributing to the communities that we operate in.”
WAMA International’s Head of Retail, Ismael Elmahdy, echoed the excitement: “We are thrilled to launch our first adidas Originals store in East Africa.”
This strategic move comes as adidas increases its focus on the African market, customizing its offerings to align with local tastes while delivering cutting-edge design and globally recognized quality.
With more than 80 stores in Westgate Mall, adidas Originals now joins the ranks of leading international brands contributing to Nairobi’s fast-growing retail and lifestyle scene.
