Nandi County has experienced steady economic growth, with revenue increasing by 12.5 percent , from KES 356.1 million in the 2022/2023 financial year to KES 600.2 million in 2023/2024. This growth is attributed to advancements in revenue collection systems, automation of key revenue streams, and expanded trade and investment initiatives.
Agriculture remains the county’s economic backbone, with large-scale tea, maize, and dairy farming playing a significant role in development.
During the session, panellists highlighted how trade finance, asset funding, and financing opportunities could help women-run businesses scale and thrive. They also emphasized the importance of cooperatives, dairy groups, and agribusiness enterprises in driving economic growth in the region.
Nandi County’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Yulita Chebotip Mitei, lauded NCBA’s initiative, stating that financial institutions play a crucial role in unlocking growth opportunities for local businesses.
“We are thankful to NCBA for organizing this forum for its customers. As a leader, I recognize the importance of women-owned businesses in driving the county’s economic development. Our goal is to explore partnerships with financial institutions that address their unique needs and unlock growth opportunities for the people of Kapsabet,” said Dr. Mitei.
As NCBA continues expanding its reach across the country, such engagements provide a platform for the bank to connect with local businesses, understand their challenges, and co-develop sustainable financial solutions.
