Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka kicked off his 71st birthday celebrations with a reflection on the state of the nation and a bold vision for the future. The pre-birthday event, held ahead of his official birthday on December 24th, saw Kalonzo cutting a cake alongside his son, with notable attendees such as former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

The Wiper Women Democrats (WWD) made the occasion even more significant by presenting a detailed gender audit report, showcasing their commitment to advancing gender equality within the political landscape. Kalonzo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the WWD for their surprise gesture, saying, “I am deeply humbled by this beautiful surprise. Above all else, I thank God.”

In his remarks, Kalonzo highlighted pressing political issues, including the delayed formation of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). He expressed disappointment over the slow progress, emphasizing the importance of a credible electoral body ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kalonzo also distanced himself from the legal dispute involving Augustine Muli and Koki Muli regarding the selection panel for appointing IEBC commissioners. “My focus remains on ensuring that the process of establishing the IEBC is transparent and accountable,” he affirmed.

The opposition leader did not shy away from criticizing recent Cabinet changes, urging Parliament to only approve nominees with the right qualifications and integrity. “The vetting process must prioritize competence and commitment to public service,” he said.

The former Vice President took the opportunity to outline his plans for strengthening the Wiper Party and building a coalition modeled after the historic 2002 Narc Kenya alliance, which united diverse political forces. He revealed that the new coalition, which aims to promote unity and progress, will be unveiled in January 2025.

“This coalition will serve as a rallying point for like-minded leaders committed to delivering a transformative agenda for Kenya. Together, we will offer the nation a renewed hope for the future,” he declared.

Kalonzo lauded the Wiper Women Democrats for their dedication and called on them to expand their influence across the country. “I believe the Wiper Women Democrats can become one of the most influential and powerful political groups in 2025. Spread out to every region and make a difference,” he urged.

The presentation of the gender audit report by WWD underscored the party’s commitment to advancing inclusivity and addressing systemic challenges facing women in politics.

Moreover he raised concerns over the NADCO report, accusing the KK administration of misrepresenting critical facts and promoting bias. He urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability, calling for a comprehensive review to address the report’s alleged inaccuracies and omissions.

Kalonzo’s message at 71st birthday was one of optimism and determination. With his eyes firmly set on the 2027 elections, he emphasized the need for unity, integrity, and bold leadership to steer Kenya toward a brighter future.

The Wiper leader’s renewed energy and clear vision position him as a key figure in shaping Kenya’s political discourse in the coming years.
