Over 300 students at Claude Academy in Baringo County have a brighter future ahead thanks to a KES 10 million investment by M-Pesa Foundation. The project, aimed at enhancing education outcomes, has delivered a state-of-the-art integrated resource centre, modern dormitory facilities, and advanced security systems to the school.
The investment underscores the Foundation’s commitment to transforming education in Kenya’s most underserved regions. Students will now benefit from a fully equipped digital resource centre featuring computers, laptops, and projectors to facilitate 21st-century learning. A newly constructed boys’ dormitory addresses overcrowding issues, while solar power systems and CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure reliable energy and enhanced school security.
Speaking during the handover, Joseph Ogutu, Chairman of Safaricom Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s mission to drive impactful change through education.
“Through our Foundations, we aim to transform lives by addressing the most pressing needs in society. Our intervention today underscores our commitment to uplifting this community through education, ensuring learners gain skills that will empower them to transform their communities,” Ogutu said.
The project at Claude Academy is part of a broader strategy by Safaricom’s Foundations to elevate learning outcomes in Baringo County. Several schools, including Marigat Integrated Primary, Chepkewel Primary, Loiwat High School, and Maron Primary, have received support to improve facilities and create better learning environments.
Additionally, the M-Pesa Foundation has made significant strides in healthcare across the county. Initiatives such as Daktari Smart have brought advanced medical solutions to the region, while infrastructure upgrades at Kabarnet Referral Hospital, Chemolingot Sub-County Hospital, and other health facilities have ensured improved healthcare delivery.
