The Isuzu East Africa Foundation has made a significant contribution to Nairobi Hospice by donating an overhead canopy aimed at improving patient care facilities. The initiative, valued at KSh 1.1 million, reflects Isuzu’s commitment to community support and sustainable health practices.
Constructed by Isuzu EA’s Product Planning, Engineering, and Bodybuilding Department in collaboration with Sai Raj Limited, the new canopy serves as an outdoor lobby and waiting area. It provides a sheltered space for patients receiving palliative care and their families, protecting them from harsh weather elements such as sun and rain.
Eng. Daniel Kilenge, Isuzu EA’s Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain Director, highlighted the importance of the project in enhancing the hospice’s infrastructure. “We have been ‘friends of the hospice’ for several years and are proud to fulfill our promise of providing an overhead canopy. This facility will significantly improve the hospice’s service delivery and patient experience,” he stated.
The construction project, which took two weeks to complete, involved around 40 employees from Isuzu and Sai Raj, who volunteered their time and skills. This initiative is part of Isuzu’s broader sustainability efforts, focusing on health and well-being while fostering employee engagement through meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Kilenge emphasized that Isuzu EA will continue to collaborate with partners like Sai Raj to make a positive social impact while maintaining profitability. “We thank all Isuzu and Sai Raj employees who contributed to this project,” he added.
Isuzu East Africa has established itself as a leader in the region’s automotive market, having sold over 150,000 vehicles since its inception in 1977. The company dominates the commercial vehicle segment, holding a 60 percent market share as of the end of 2023. Additionally, in 2024, Isuzu became the official importer and assembler of UD Trucks in Kenya.
With this donation, the Isuzu East Africa Foundation reinforces its dedication to enhancing community welfare through partnerships and social responsibility initiatives.
