Safaricom has announced five additional winners in its ongoing Shine Kenya Shinda Mamilii Kama Bingwa Campaign, each receiving KSH 1 million in individual prizes and an extra KSH 250,000 to support community projects of their choice. The campaign, which began in early May, aims to ease Kenyans’ financial burdens by making millionaires out of 31 winners, with one grand prize winner slated to receive KSH 5 million.
The latest winners include Naomi Mbithe Muli, a primary school teacher from Machakos County, who plans to complete the construction of her mother’s house and pursue further education with her winnings. Additionally, she will use the KSH 250,000 community prize to buy school uniforms and stationery for vulnerable students and acquire practical apparatus for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Rachel Wanjiru Muthike, a tea and coffee farmer from Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, expressed immense relief and excitement. She intends to finish her ongoing projects, invest for her children’s future, and use her community award to purchase practical apparatus for CBC students at a local primary school.
Rono Kibet from Trans Mara East plans to use his KSH 1 million to fund a poultry project and invest in land for his church, addressing a long-standing need for a place of worship. The community prize will help purchase land for the church, enhancing its facilities.
Njeri Kamau, a 24-year-old occupational therapist from Nairobi, is overwhelmed by her win. She plans to use her prize to open a pantry and spice shop while investing in other opportunities. The KSH 250,000 community prize will be used to buy wheelchairs for special needs children.
Osano Gideon from Migori County sees this as a life-changing opportunity. He intends to invest part of his winnings in a small business and use the community award to improve his local school with essential supplies and fee assistance for underprivileged students.
Safaricom’s CEO, Peter Ndegwa, highlighted the campaign’s impact, stating, “Safaricom is synonymous with transforming lives and empowering our communities to have a tangible impact on society. We are thrilled to see how these additional millionaires are investing both in their futures and their communities.”
To participate in the campaign, customers need to transact on M-PESA or purchase any Safaricom Bundles.
