1 Mins read

In a dramatic twist in the ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking, law enforcement agencies have once again demonstrated their vigilance and resourcefulness. The latest incident unfolded in Siaya, where authorities intercepted a sophisticated smuggling attempt involving a seemingly innocuous package.

According to DCI a trafficker dispatched a suspicious parcel from Siaya to Mombasa, concealing the illegal cargo within a nylon sack. The trafficker’s elaborate scheme appeared well-crafted; however, their plan unraveled when the individual vanished at the booking office, raising immediate suspicions.

A keen-eyed attendant, sensing that something was amiss, promptly notified the police. Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the scene to inspect the package. Upon examination, they discovered a deceptive layer of raw bananas masking a significant haul of narcotics. Beneath the fruit, officers unearthed 245 rolls of cannabis sativa, totaling 17.5 kilograms.

The seized drugs were promptly transported to the Siaya Police Station for secure storage. The authorities are currently engaged in an intensive search for the trafficker, who managed to escape before the police intervention.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reaffirmed its dedication to combating drug trafficking, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to outmaneuver increasingly inventive smugglers. This latest seizure underscores the continuous challenges faced by law enforcement and their commitment to disrupting the illegal drug trade.

The DCI remains resolute in its mission to counter the evolving tactics of traffickers and ensure that such operations are met with decisive and effective responses.
