1 Mins read

President William Ruto has appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as the acting Cabinet Secretary in all ministries. This move follows a special Gazette Notice dated July 11, which stated Mudavadi will assume the role across all ministerial portfolios.

The decision comes on the heels of President Ruto’s recent dismissal of all cabinet secretaries, a significant overhaul intended to enhance government operations and responsiveness. The President’s formal communication declared all 21 cabinet posts, along with the position of Attorney General, as vacant.

President Ruto justified this sweeping reorganization by citing overwhelming public feedback regarding the government’s performance. He emphasized that the review and restructuring of his administration are essential for embedding operational enhancements and fostering more responsive governance.

The Gazette Notice stated: “That pursuant to Article 152 (5) (a) of the Constitution, Hon. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., is assigned as the Acting Cabinet Secretary in all vacant ministerial portfolios.” gazette notice reads

President Ruto further stated: “Now therefore, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, by the Authority vested in me by the Constitution and the Laws of the Republic of Kenya, do hereby order and direct that in accordance with Article 152 (5) (b) of Constitution, the Cabinet Secretaries listed below have been dismissed from office as stated.” the notice reads

The sweeping changes mark a pivotal moment in President Ruto’s administration, as he seeks to address public concerns and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the government.
