In a year that underscored the transformative power of urban mobility, Bolt, a leading ride-hailing platform, has cemented its role as a key player in Kenya’s transportation ecosystem. Data released for 2024 paints a vivid picture of how Kenyans are embracing Bolt as an essential part of their daily lives, reshaping urban travel trends.

Saturday steals the spotlight

Saturday emerged as the most popular day for Bolt riders in Kenya, replacing Friday, which held the crown in 2023. This shift highlights changing social and travel patterns, with weekends becoming prime time for leisure and exploration.

Across the country, airports and restaurants remained the top pick-up points, reflecting Bolt’s critical role in connecting people to dining experiences and facilitating seamless travel.

Record-breaking rides

In 2024, Bolt saw exceptional feats of endurance and commitment: A dedicated customer completed a staggering 1,477 trips, earning the title of the top rider. The top driver on the platform shattered expectations with 8,104 trips in a single year. The longest recorded trip spanned an impressive 79.88 kilometers, showcasing Bolt’s capacity to bridge distances effortlessly.

Globally, the Bolt Business category made waves, with Bangkok, Johannesburg, and Asunción emerging as the busiest hubs. Businesses relied heavily on the service, with Fridays between 5 pm and 6 pm proving the most active hour, emphasizing Bolt’s role in empowering professionals in urban centers.

Sandra Suzanne Buyole, Bolt’s Regional PR Manager for Africa, emphasized the platform’s impact “With this data, we can see how much our services have become part of the urban fabric in Kenya. Together with our 200 million customers and 4.5 million drivers, we look forward to a new year of taking more steps towards our mission to make cities for people, not cars in Kenya.”

As Bolt looks ahead to 2025, the company is set to build on this momentum, redefining urban mobility and continuing to offer innovative solutions that connect people, places, and possibilities.

With millions of riders and drivers relying on Bolt’s dependable services, the platform has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of Kenya’s evolving transportation landscape.
