Safaricom partners with Quickmart to expand access to 4G and 5G home internet nationwide

1 Mins read

Safaricom PLC (NSE: SCOM) has announced a strategic partnership with leading retailer Quickmart to accelerate the availability of its 4G and 5G For Home internet solutions across Kenya.

The collaboration will allow customers to conveniently purchase home routers at all 61 Quickmart outlets countrywide, reinforcing Safaricom’s mission to deliver fast, reliable internet to more households.

The telco has also introduced a simplified self-service activation process to enhance customer experience. Through a QR code scan, users can now register their SIM cards, activate their accounts, and purchase internet packages without needing external support — allowing for quick, seamless access to home connectivity.

“In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we are continuously innovating to provide our customers with the best connectivity solutions. This partnership will ensure that more Kenyans can access reliable home internet with ease, reinforcing our promise of seamless connectivity and great value,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.

Quickmart’s Chief Commercial Officer, J. Thuku, echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are excited to collaborate with Safaricom to offer our customers easy access to high-speed internet solutions.

This partnership aligns with our goal to provide convenience and value to Kenyans by making essential services readily available at our stores.”

The 4G and 5G routers retail for KES 2,999 and are also available at Safaricom retail shops, authorized dealers, and online via Masoko.co.ke. Safaricom plans to expand this distribution model by onboarding more retailers in the coming months.

Safaricom’s 4G network currently covers over 97 percent of Kenya’s population, while its rapidly growing 5G network is now active in all 47 counties — extending high-speed internet to areas outside traditional fibre coverage.

The telco is also investing in enhancing its fibre network, upgrading speeds at no extra cost, and running home service clinics to improve customer experience.

5G Router Packages:

50 Mbps – KES 4,000 (30 Days)

100 Mbps – KES 5,000 (30 Days)

250 Mbps – KES 10,000 (30 Days)

These developments come as Safaricom marks 25 years of operations in the Kenyan market, with a renewed focus on digital inclusion, customer engagement, and nationwide internet access.
