Safaricom Foundation launches Ndoto Zetu Phase 7 with KES 600 Million investment

Over one million Kenyans are set to benefit from transformative projects in health, education, and economic empowerment. This comes after Safaricom Foundation launched Phase 7 of the Ndoto Zetu initiative. Therefore, committing an additional KES 100 million to community. Development efforts across the country.

The launch event, held at Eldoret Special School in Uasin Gishu County, marked a continued commitment by the Foundation to support grassroots projects that uplift lives.

The event saw the school’s vocational unit receive knitting machines and materials.  Aimed at empowering learners with disabilities to create and sell hand-crafted products, boosting their economic independence.

Since its inception in 2019, the Ndoto Zetu (Our Dreams) initiative has become a flagship community-driven program. With the new funding, the Foundation’s total investment now stands at KES 600 million.  Supporting more than 1,820 projects and directly improving the lives of over 3 million Kenyans in all 47 counties.

“With Ndoto Zetu, we are inspired by everyday Kenyans who dare to dream not just for themselves, but for their communities. As we launch Phase 7. We are walking this journey with you — because when your dream lifts others, it becomes our dream too,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC.

In 2024 alone, the Foundation handed over 400 projects, including 294 in education, 52 in health, and 54 in economic empowerment. Thus, underscoring its commitment to locally driven development.

Women Empowerment Through Wezesha Mama

In a parallel initiative, M-PESA Foundation also rolled out its Wezesha Mama Programme in the Rift region. Thus was in partnership with Hand-in-Hand. The program aims to empower women’s groups by providing training, financial resources, and business development support. Also,  helping women establish sustainable enterprises and enhance household incomes.

How to Apply for Support

Kenyans with community-focused ideas can apply for support through the Ndoto Zetu initiative by filling out application forms available at Safaricom Shops nationwide or applying online.

Through these initiatives, Safaricom Foundation continues to demonstrate its commitment to inclusive, community-led development and sustainable impact in Kenya.
