Irungu Nyakera Urges Students to Embrace Lifelong Learning and Bold Dreaming

Former Principal Secretary and education advocate Irungu Nyakera has called on students to embrace lifelong learning and bold dreaming as they pursue excellence, curiosity, and purpose in life.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at Sawa Excellent Educational Centre in Eastleigh, Nyakera inspired learners to remain curious, daring, and driven, echoing the timeless words of Apple co-founder Steve Job, “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish.”

He reminded the students that the phrase, first delivered during Jobs’ iconic 2005 Stanford University address, remains a universal call to continuous learning, risk-taking, and purposeful living.

“It’s a call to keep learning, dreaming, and daring; to stay curious and bold enough to take risks in pursuit of growth and purpose,” he said.

Nyakera, who is known for his deep commitment to education and youth empowerment, described education as the greatest equalizer and the surest path to opportunity.

He urged parents to continue investing in their children’s learning, emphasizing that the benefits of education extend beyond individual success to the collective progress of society.

“Parents must keep investing in their children’s education because it is the greatest equalizer and the surest path to opportunity. Education opens doors, breaks barriers, and empowers young people to rewrite their futures,” he said.

Addressing the graduands, Nyakera encouraged them to remain hungry for knowledge and “foolish” enough to believe in their dreams, no matter how ambitious they seem. He challenged them to pursue growth fearlessly, think beyond limits, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“When we keep learning and daring, we not only change our own lives but help shape a better future for all,” he concluded, inspiring students, teachers, and parents alike to see education as a lifelong journey fueled by curiosity, courage, and purposes
