The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, on Friday morning visited the Kamukunji Sub-County Police Headquarters in Pumwani, where he met with local security officials and assessed the working conditions of officers stationed in the area. The visit aimed to evaluate the security situation and listen to the officers’ concerns.

During a briefing led by the local Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), l Fredrick Muli, IG Kanja commended the cooperation between police officers and members of the public in enhancing security. “I am happy that our officers are working well with citizens. I urge all National Police Officers to work with everybody to benefit all Kenyans,” said Kanja.

He emphasized the importance of public trust, noting that it is built when officers uphold integrity, fairness, and the rule of law. “Public trust is earned when officers serve with integrity and impartiality and deliver services that genuinely meet the community’s needs,” he stated.

IG Kanja took time to assess the facilities at the Kamukunji Headquarters, expressing concern over the poor housing conditions for officers. “There is a problem with where they sleep. I will go to the Principal Secretary for Housing to negotiate how houses can be built for officers so they can live near their work stations,” he added.
